The CNFE2003M2 is a two-channel media converter that takes two 10/100 Mbps electrical (copper) inputs and consolidates them onto a single 100 Mbps optical fiber output—solving the common problem of extended camera runs where copper cabling would degrade signal or pick up noise. This is the right choice when you need to bridge an IP surveillance network over fiber to a distant headend, remote warehouse, or hardened site where electrical isolation matters. The unit supports optional 802.3at PoE+ (30W standard or 60W high-power variant), meaning it can inject power downstream to PoE cameras while also transmitting video up the fiber backbone.
The CNFE2003M2 works with any standard 10/100 BASE-T surveillance camera, NVR, or switch that outputs copper RJ-45. Common pairings include IP cameras over extended distance, managed Ethernet switches in distributed surveillance architectures, and video encoders in hybrid analog-to-IP migration projects. SC or ST fiber connectors are user-selectable, so it integrates with existing multimode or singlemode cabling plants. The Comnet Mux feature prevents multicast flooding by designating one fiber port as a dedicated uplink path, useful in large multi-camera deployments where broadcast storms could saturate bandwidth.
Operating temperature range is -40°C to +75°C, making it suitable for outdoor cabinets, rooftop installations, and unheated shelters—critical for surveillance in harsh climates. The unit draws only 3W unpowered; with PoE load, expect 30W or 60W depending on variant. Link Fault Pass-Through detects copper-side failures (port down, cable cut) within 25 msec and signals the remote head-end by switching the optical port state—enabling automatic failover detection without additional monitoring. Standard dimensions are 6.1 × 5.3 × 1.1 inches; a mini variant (4.1 × 3.7 × 1.1 inches) fits tighter enclosures. Ship weight under 2 lbs allows for easy pole or rack mounting.
