Questions about this product? Free pre-sales support from a senior specialist — product questions, compatibility checks, BOM quotes, price confirmation — typically answered within one business day. Need camera placement or system design work? Engineering time is $175 per hour (qty 1 = 1 hour). Hardware buyers get up to one hour ($175) credited back on their order.
The CNFE2004M1B converts two 10/100 Mbps copper Ethernet ports into a single 100 Mbps optical port, solving the distance and isolation problem when running surveillance equipment across long cable runs or in electrically noisy environments. This is the core workhorse for extending network video feeds beyond standard twisted-pair limits — typical deployments place one unit at the camera head-end (electrical in, fiber out) and a mirror unit at the recorder or switch (fiber in, electrical out). Single-mode fiber reach of 20 km (12 miles) means you can separate your camera tier from your core infrastructure without repeaters.
Supports any standard 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet device: IP cameras with RJ-45 output, PoE injectors, network switches, or NVRs. Auto-negotiation on electrical ports handles both 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps speeds, full or half duplex. Automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover eliminates cable type concerns. Optical port accepts ST or SC connectors (CNFE2004M1B uses SC multimode connectors; single-mode variants available separately). The exclusive Demux feature allows port isolation — useful when you need to replicate a media converter pair across a single fiber strand for redundancy or multi-site aggregation.
Operating temperature range -40°C to +75°C handles outdoor cabinet and unheated warehouse environments. Meets NEMA TS-1/TS-2 and Caltrans traffic signal specifications for harsh industrial settings. Optional 30W or 60W PoE+ models (CNFE2004M1BPOE or CNFE2004M1BPOEHO) can inject power directly into copper ports — powered by 48–56 volt DC supply (sold separately). Link Fault Pass-Through detects copper-side failure and signals the optical port state change, allowing head-end equipment to detect fiber break or camera-side power loss. Wide AC/DC input voltage tolerance handles high-line/low-line supply variations common in remote locations.
