The CNFE2004M1A is a 2-channel 10/100 Mbps electrical-to-optical media converter that consolidates two copper feeds into a single 100 Mbps fiber uplink. This solves the classic surveillance problem: long-distance IP camera runs (especially from remote PTZs, NVRs, or edge appliances) over fiber avoid ground loops, EMI, and voltage drop that corrupt video over extended copper runs. The unit fits standard cabinet mounting and accepts wide-range DC input (8–24 VDC), making it compatible with existing UPS and 24V alarm power infrastructures.
The CNFE2004M1A works with any 10/100 Mbps Ethernet source: industrial Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview, and Vivotek IP cameras; NVRs with copper uplink ports; managed switches; and dedicated surveillance encoders. The SC connector accommodates both multimode (3 km max) and singlemode (20 km max) fiber—verify your fiber plant specs before ordering. Auto-negotiation on both copper ports handles mixed 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps devices transparently. The optional PoE variants (CNFE2004M1APOE, CNFE2004M1APOEHO) deliver 30W or 60W PoE+ to both ports—useful for powering remote IP cameras or edge storage appliances at the fiber endpoint.
Standard unit dimensions: 6.1 × 5.3 × 1.1 inches; mini variants available at 4.1 × 3.7 × 1.1 inches. Operating temperature range −40°C to +75°C ensures outdoor cabinet and harsh HVAC installs. Comnet's exclusive Mux/Demux features (DIP switch selectable) prevent multicast flooding on the fiber uplink and isolate port failures via Link Fault Pass-Through—valuable in broadcast-heavy surveillance networks. Power consumption is 3W (non-PoE load); PoE models require external 48–56 VDC supply. Auto MDI/MDI-X crossover eliminates need for crossover cables. Unit meets NEMA TS-1/TS-2 traffic control and Caltrans environmental requirements—standard for transportation and utility surveillance.
