The CNFE1003S2 is a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet-to-optical media converter with SC connectors and a 2-fiber singlemode design. This device bridges copper Ethernet networks to fiber-optic runs where noise immunity, distance, or galvanic isolation matters — common in surveillance systems that span multiple buildings, cross utility lines, or run alongside high-voltage equipment. The converter accepts 10/100 BASE-T electrical input on RJ45 and outputs 100 Mbps 100 BASE-FX optical signal. Auto-negotiation on the Ethernet side eliminates manual speed configuration; no optical adjustments required on commissioning.
The CNFE1003S2 pairs with any surveillance camera, NVR, or network switch that uses standard 10/100 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet. SC connectors mean you must use SC-terminated fiber runs; ST variants are available in the CNFE100X series if your backbone uses ST. The 2-fiber design requires separate transmit and receive fiber strands — confirm your fiber plant is 2-fiber before ordering. Singlemode fiber reaches 20 km (12 mi); if your run is under 3 km and multimode is already in place, confirm the variant or upgrade distance strategy.
Power is supplied via included DC power supply (8–24 VDC input, 3W consumption). Mount the converter in equipment racks (hot-swappable standard module) or wall-mounted using the ComFit housing. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +75°C; confirm ambient conditions in outdoor equipment cabinets. Automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover means you can use straight-through or crossover Ethernet cables without concern. Voltage transient protection on all power and signal lines guards against surges — a practical safeguard in industrial surveillance deployments. LED status indicators confirm operational state; no field adjustments required once powered and fiber-connected. IEEE 802.3 compliance ensures compatibility with standard Ethernet infrastructure.
