Overview

The CNFE1002M1B is a hardened 10/100 Mbps Ethernet-to-optical media converter designed for surveillance networks extending PoE cameras and NVR connections over fiber runs. This single-channel unit accepts 10/100BASE-T electrical input (RJ45) and converts it to 100BASE-FX optical output via ST connector on 1-fiber multimode or singlemode cable—eliminating ground loops and extending reach far beyond copper limits. Auto-negotiating, plug-and-play operation: no field calibration or adjustment required. Operates -40°C to +75°C, making it viable for outdoor telecom cabinets, rooftop enclosures, and harsh industrial surveillance installations.

Compatibility

Works with any standard PoE injector, PoE switch, or direct Ethernet source feeding 10/100 Mbps traffic. Typical surveillance integration: connect switch Ethernet port (or dedicated PoE injector output) to the RJ45 electrical port; fiber link to remote camera, NVR, or fiber-fed network segment. Transparent to data encoding—compatible with Axis, Hikvision, Hanwha, Vivotek, Bosch, Pelco, and all ONVIF-compliant camera systems. No VMS-level compatibility issues; operates at Layer 1 (physical).

Installation Notes

Distance and fiber type: Multimode (MM) ST connectors reach 3 km (2 mi); singlemode (SM) reaches 20 km (12 mi). Choose based on cable plant already in ground—forcing a long run on multimode causes signal degradation and link loss. Power: Requires 8–24 VDC or 22–27 VAC input (external power supply included). Draw is only 3W, so a single 24VDC power supply can feed multiple units. Environmental hardening: Voltage transient protection on power and signal lines; automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover eliminates straight-vs-crossover cable guessing. Mounting: Standard size (6.1 × 5.3 × 1.1 in) wall-mounts or rack-mounts; mini variant (3.3 × 2.5 × 1.1 in) available for space-constrained enclosures. LED indicators signal operational status and link presence—valuable for field troubleshooting fiber runs.
