Description

Comnet CNFE1002SAC1B-M 100 Mbps Ethernet-to-Optical Media Converter

Overview

The CNFE1002SAC1B-M is a compact electrical-to-optical media converter that bridges copper Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) to single-fiber or dual-fiber optical runs. Deploy this when surveillance, access control, or data circuits need to cross electrical noise boundaries—factory floors, long building runs, or sites where fiber immunity is non-negotiable. The unit arrives powered and ready: no field adjustments, no optical tuning. CNFE1002SAC1B-M ships with a DC supply and accepts AC/DC input (22–27 VAC or 8–24 VDC), consuming only 3W—relevant if you're running off a UPS or a restricted power budget.

Compatibility

Works with any Ethernet device (IP cameras, NVRs, switches, PoE injectors) on the electrical side and any standard telecommunications fiber plant on the optical side. ST and SC connector options allow integration into existing cabling runs. Multimode fiber spans 3 km; singlemode extends to 20 km—match the reach to your fiber plant. Auto-negotiation on the electrical port means it will work at 10 or 100 Mbps without manual speed selection.

Installation Notes

Operating temperature range of −40°C to +75°C handles outdoor equipment cabinets and unheated telecom vaults without derating. Humidity tolerance (0–95%, non-condensing) suits sealed enclosures but not direct condensation exposure. The small form factor (3.3 × 2.5 × 1.1 in) mounts in tight spaces—pole-mounted cabinets, DIN rails, or wall hangers. IEEE 802.3 compliance and >100,000-hour MTBF confirm standard telecommunications durability. Voltage transient protection on all power and signal lines guards against surge events common in industrial and broadcast environments.
