Description

Comnet CWFE1003POEMHO-M 100Mbps Media Converter with Integrated PoE

Overview

The CWFE1003POEMHO-M is a 10/100Mbps Ethernet media converter purpose-built for surveillance installations where you need to extend network camera feeds over fiber while simultaneously injecting 48V PoE power back to the copper side. It accepts multi-mode fiber on the transmit side via SC connector and converts to standard RJ-45 Ethernet on the copper side—the CWFE1003POEMHO-M does both jobs in one chassis, eliminating separate fiber-to-copper converters and standalone PoE injectors.

The integrated 60W power supply means you can run multiple cameras or network devices at the far end without a secondary injector. This matters in remote tower sites, distributed warehouse zones, and long-haul camera runs where pulling additional AC power is costly or impractical.

Compatibility

Works with any standard IP camera, network switch, or powered device that accepts 48V DC input or standard 802.3at PoE—including Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, and Uniview cameras rated for PoE or passive DC injection. On the fiber side, pair with any multi-mode fiber plant (OM3 or OM4 preferred for longer runs beyond 500m). The SC connector is the industry standard for industrial and telecom fiber; verify your existing fiber termination matches before ordering.

The 10/100Mbps data rate handles single or dual-camera streams (H.264 or H.265) with typical bitrates under 8 Mbps per camera. For dense multi-camera arrays, verify your total bandwidth before deployment.

Installation Notes

Mount the converter near the fiber entry point to minimize unshielded copper run length—coiled fiber should stay slack to avoid micro-bends that degrade signal. The 48V output is isolated; use shielded twisted-pair cabling for the copper run if the distance exceeds 100 feet or if you're in an electrically noisy environment (near AC power, high-frequency equipment, or RF sources). No field configuration needed—power it up and it passes traffic transparently.
