Overview
The Middle Atlantic BL1 is a 1-rack-unit flanged blank panel machined from aluminum with a black brushed and anodized finish. It closes unused 1U slots in 19-inch racks — a necessary step in any installation where open bays would otherwise disrupt rack airflow management, create EMI leakage paths, or leave a build looking unfinished at client handoff. The BL1 fits standard EIA 19-inch two-post and four-post rack enclosures and ships as a single panel.
Compatibility
Fits any standard EIA 310-compliant 19-inch rack with 1.75-inch (1U) vertical spacing — including Middle Atlantic rack enclosures and cabinets, as well as third-party open-frame and enclosed rack systems from APC, Tripp Lite, Kendall Howard, and equivalent 19-inch two-post or four-post systems. At 19 inches wide and 0.52 inches deep, the BL1 is shallow enough to clear most cable management guides and vertical PDU rails without interference. Two mounting points align to standard rack rails — no adapter or cage nut conversion required on pre-tapped rails; standard M6 or 10-32 cage nuts for unthreaded rails depending on your rack enclosure specification.
Installation Notes
The flanged style means the panel face sits flush against the rack rail face rather than recessing behind it — correct for cosmetic front-of-rack builds and for rack panel rows where flush alignment matters. At 0.3 lbs shipping weight, no special handling is required. Hardware is not included; use fasteners appropriate to your rail type (M6 for metric-tapped, 10-32 for imperial-tapped rails). Anodized aluminum resists corrosion in air-conditioned equipment rooms and light industrial environments.
