Overview

The K-1700-BN-IP is a SIP 2.0 VoIP entry phone built for commercial and multifamily access points where aesthetics and durability both matter. The oil rubbed bronze powder coat over a 14-gauge louvered 316 stainless steel faceplate gives it a finished architectural look while meeting the physical demands of high-traffic entries. It integrates directly with Viking Electronics IP phone systems and any SIP 2.0-compliant call manager, making it a natural fit for facilities already running hosted PBX or on-premise IP telephony. Flush mount with the included rough-in box (4.5" x 5.5" x 2.5") or surface mount with an optional VE-6x7 back box — no additional adapter hardware required for new rough-in installations. PoE Class 2 (under 6.5W) means a standard 802.3af PoE switch port powers the unit; no local transformer or separate power run needed.

Compatibility

Designed for the K-1700-IP Series platform. Works with any SIP 2.0 (RFC 3261) call server — Cisco, Avaya, Asterisk, FreePBX, 3CX, and comparable platforms. The 26-bit Wiegand input connects to standard access control panels and readers. Two SPDT 2-amp relay outputs support door strike, gate controller, or camera trigger wiring. Optional RC-4A module enables remote relay control. Supports up to 1,000 keyless entry codes and 1,000 card numbers, scaling to small-to-mid commercial deployments without a secondary controller. Installation Notes

Mounting screws are T-10 Security Torx — standard Phillips drivers won't work, which is intentional for tamper resistance. Faceplate, mic, and speaker gaskets provide IP66 weather protection (EWP rating supports up to 100% humidity). The self-draining mic mount is critical for exterior installs: water must drain freely or mic performance degrades. The RJ45 connection uses 100BASE-Tx; run Cat5e or Cat6 to the entry point. Fourteen gel-filled butt connectors are included for field splices. Operating range is -40°F to 140°F — suitable for unheated vestibules and outdoor canopy installs in most North American climates.
