Overview

The Viking Electronics K-1700-IP-EWP is a vandal-resistant VoIP door entry phone built for demanding exterior deployments where standard IP ratings fall short. The Enhanced Weather Protection (EWP) variant adds foam rubber gaskets, sealed connections, and gel-filled butt connectors to meet IP66 standards — appropriate for covered entries, loading docks, and exterior vestibules exposed to wind-driven rain and dust. Unlike the base K-1700-IP, this model is engineered to handle up to 100% humidity, making it the correct choice anywhere condensation or direct water contact is a real risk. It ships with a rough-in box for flush mounting, or pairs with the optional VE-6x7 surface mount enclosure. The unit draws under 6.5W via PoE Class 2 (IEEE 802.3af), eliminating the need for a local power supply at each door position.

Compatibility

The K-1700-IP-EWP operates on SIP 2.0 (RFC 3261) over 100BASE-Tx, making it compatible with any standards-compliant SIP PBX or VoIP call manager — including on-premise and hosted platforms. The built-in access control subsystem supports 26-bit Wiegand input and output, so it integrates directly with most commercial access panels accepting Wiegand readers. It stores up to 1,000 keyless entry codes and 1,000 card numbers on-board, and supports 250 programmable directory numbers with 250 rollover numbers — sized for multi-tenant residential, commercial lobbies, and light industrial entry points. Audio uses G.711u, G.711a, and G.722 codecs; G.722 delivers wideband audio clarity on supported SIP endpoints. The two sets of SPDT relay contacts (2A each) can drive electric strikes or maglocks directly for simple single-door configurations. Installation Notes

The 14-gauge louvered 316 stainless steel faceplate with laser-etched graphics resists both physical attack and surface wear over time — paint-filled legends will fade; laser-etched won't.
