The VE811R is the receiver half of ATEN's VE811 HDMI HDBaseT extender pair, designed to terminate a structured-cable run and output a 4K or 1080p signal to a local display. Deploy it at the screen end of a boardroom, digital signage wall, or AV-over-IP distribution run where pulling HDMI cable the full distance isn't viable. The VE811R accepts the HDBaseT signal from the transmitter over standard Cat5e, Cat6, or Cat6a and converts it back to HDMI — one HDMI Type A female output, one DC power jack with locking collar. The long-reach mode slide switch on the unit lets you toggle between standard and extended range without reconfiguring anything at the source end.
The VE811R pairs exclusively with the ATEN VE811 transmitter unit as a matched set — it is not a standalone device and is not interchangeable with other HDBaseT receivers without verifying signal compatibility. Cable selection directly affects maximum reach: Cat5e or Cat6 supports 4K up to 70m (4096×2160 or 3840×2160 @ 60Hz 4:2:0, or @ 30Hz 4:4:4); stepping up to Cat6a or ATEN's own 2L-2910 Cat6 cable extends that to 100m at 4K. For 1080p signals, any of Cat5e, Cat6, or Cat6a reaches 100m — useful when legacy 1080p sources are in the mix. Input resolution support tops out at 1920×1200 @ 60Hz (Reduced Blanking) for non-4K sources. This extender pair fits standard HDMI extender deployments across conference rooms, classrooms, retail signage, and AV distribution infrastructures where HDBaseT over structured cabling is the backbone. It is not designed for video surveillance or IP camera integration.
The VE811R requires its own DC power feed via the locking DC jack — confirm a local power source is available at the display end before finalizing your cable plan. The unit measures 8.20 × 5.20 × 2.37 cm without bracket (3.23 × 2.05 × 0.93 in.) and 8.64 × 7.30 × 2.47 cm with bracket, weighing 0.37 lb — size is appropriate for surface mounting or rack-shelf placement near the display. The long-reach mode switch must be set correctly for your cable run: enabling it on a short run can degrade signal quality. Operate within 0–80% RH non-condensing humidity. Max cable stub from the receiver to the display is 3m — plan your HDMI patch accordingly so the display is within reach of the receiver's output port. Use a quality Cat6a cable if 4K at full 100m reach is required; Cat5e will cap you at 70m for 4K content.
