The VE1812R is the receiver half of ATEN's VE1812 HDBaseT extender pair, designed to place a 4K HDMI display up to 100m from the source over structured Cat cabling. If you're running a digital signage endpoint, a boardroom display, or a remote monitor in a control room where pulling HDMI directly isn't practical, this unit handles the HDBaseT-to-HDMI conversion at the screen end. It accepts a single Cat 5e, 6, or 6a run from the paired transmitter and outputs 4K via HDMI Type A — no media converter, no dedicated power supply required when the transmitter delivers Power over HDBaseT (POH).
Resolution support scales with your cable plant: 4K (4096×2160 or 3840×2160) at 60Hz (4:2:0) or 30Hz (4:4:4) over Cat 5e/6 reaches 70m — enough for most single-floor runs. Step up to Cat 6a or ATEN's 2L-2910 Cat6 and that extends to 100m, keeping 4K viable across longer drops. If your endpoints are 1080p, Cat 5e/6/6a all reach 100m at full HD, so there's no need to re-cable legacy infrastructure.
Power flexibility matters in tight ceiling or rack installs: the VE1812R accepts either a DC jack with a locking connector — securing it against accidental disconnection in a rack — or draws power directly from the HDBaseT link via POH, eliminating a separate power run to the display location entirely.
The VE1812R pairs exclusively with the ATEN VE1812T transmitter unit as part of the VE1812 system. It is not a standalone device and will not function with third-party HDBaseT transmitters. Cable compatibility: Cat 5e or Cat 6 for runs to 70m (4K) or 100m (1080p); Cat 6a or ATEN 2L-2910 Cat6 for 4K at 100m. The HDMI output (Type A female) connects directly to any HDMI display or AV receiver. IR passback is supported via the 3.5mm mini stereo jack, enabling remote control of source equipment from the display end — useful in AV distribution deployments where the source is locked in a rack room.
Humidity tolerance is 0–80% RH non-condensing — suitable for standard indoor environments but not exposed or high-moisture locations. Firmware can be updated in the field via the onboard slide switch (ON/OFF), so you don't need to pull the unit for service access. Unit dimensions without bracket are 13.60 × 10.10 × 2.90 cm (5.35 × 3.98 × 1.14 in.) at 0.99 lb — fits behind most flat-panel displays or in a shallow surface-mount enclosure. If wall-mounting with the included bracket, account for the larger footprint: 14.04 × 12.30 × 3.00 cm. Verify your switch or transmitter supports POH before relying on it for power — standard PoE (802.3af/at) is not the same as Power over HDBaseT.
