Overview

The VE1812T is the transmitter half of ATEN's VE1812 4K HDMI-over-HDBaseT extender set, designed for installations where a 4K source — a media player, PC, or presentation system — needs to feed a remote display without running HDMI cable beyond its reliable limits. The VE1812T accepts a single HDMI source and converts it for transmission over structured Cat cabling to a paired VE1812R receiver. A DC locking power jack prevents accidental disconnection in rack or wall-plate installations, and a slide switch on the unit enables firmware upgrades in the field without additional tooling.

Compatibility

The VE1812T is the transmitter component of the ATEN VE1812 extender pair and requires the ATEN VE1812R receiver to complete the signal path — it does not operate as a standalone device or interoperate with other HDBaseT receivers. Signal reach depends on cable category: Cat 5e or Cat 6 delivers 4K up to 70m and 1080p up to 100m; Cat 6a or ATEN's own 2L-2910 Cat 6 cable extends 4K to 100m. Supported 4K formats include 4096×2160 and 3840×2160 at 60 Hz (4:2:0) and 30 Hz (4:4:4). The IR passthrough port (3.5mm mini stereo jack) supports remote control extender accessories where bidirectional IR is required. The HDMI input is Type A female and accepts sources up to the supported resolution ceiling — verify your source outputs a compatible 4K timing before deployment.

Installation Notes

Maximum cable run from VE1812T to the source device (local HDMI cable) is 3m — keep the transmitter close to the source. Humidity tolerance is 0–80% RH non-condensing; do not install in unventilated enclosures or humid environments without additional climate control. The unit measures 13.60 × 10.10 × 2.90 cm without bracket and 14.04 × 12.30 × 3.00 cm with bracket installed, weighing 1.04 lb — plan mounting depth accordingly in shallow wall boxes or cable management panels.
