ATEN VE811T 4K HDMI HDBaseT Transmitter
Overview
The ATEN VE811T is the transmitter half of the VE811 HDMI over Cat 5e/6/6a extender system. It accepts a single HDMI source — a media player, PC, or signal processor — and sends 4K video up to 70m over Cat 5e/6, or up to 100m over Cat 6a or ATEN's 2L-2910 Cat 6 cable. At 1080p, all three cable grades reach 100m, making the VE811T a practical fit for digital signage runs, conference room feeds, and control room displays where pulling new cable is not an option. The VE811T connects within 3m of the HDMI source via the integrated HDMI Type A female input, so plan your rack or wall-mount position accordingly. A slide switch on the unit enables Long Reach Mode, toggling the link to prioritize distance over bandwidth — use this when running at the 70–100m boundary on marginal cable. The unit draws power from the included DC jack with a locking collar, preventing accidental disconnection in rack or in-wall installs.
Compatibility
The VE811T is designed exclusively for use with the HDMI extender VE811R receiver unit — it does not operate standalone. The pair supports 4K resolutions at 4096 x 2160 and 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz (4:2:0) or 30 Hz (4:4:4), and up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz with reduced blanking for legacy displays. Cable selection directly determines the maximum run: Cat 5e or Cat 6 caps at 70m for 4K; Cat 6a or ATEN 2L-2910 reaches 100m. If your run exceeds 70m and you need 4K, Cat 6a is the minimum — verify cable quality and termination before commissioning. Installation Notes
Mount the VE811T within 3m of the HDMI source — the local HDMI input cable is the limiting factor on the source side. Humidity tolerance is 0–80% RH non-condensing; do not install in environments with condensation risk. Enable Long Reach Mode via the slide switch when operating near the cable-length ceiling; leave it off for shorter runs to preserve full bandwidth. Secure the DC power connector using the locking collar — a loose power connection at the transmitter will drop the entire link. Dimension with bracket: 8.64 x 7.30 x 2.47 cm (3.4 x 2.87 x 0.97 in.); without bracket: 8.20 x 5.20 x 2.37 cm (3.23 x 2.05 x 0.93 in.), weighing 0.35 lb — light enough for surface or rack-ear mounting without additional support hardware.
