Overview

The Ubiquiti UBB-XG is a point-to-point wireless bridge engineered for high-capacity microwave backhaul between fixed network nodes. It operates on a dual-band architecture—60 GHz primary (57–66 GHz, up to 2,160 MHz channel bandwidth) with 5 GHz fallback (5150–5850 MHz)—delivering up to 10 Gbps throughput over distances to 500 m. The UBB-XG fits campus networks, remote site-to-site connectivity, and redundant wireless links where fiber runs are impractical or cost-prohibitive. The device ships pre-configured with a PoE++ adapter, simplifying deployment in remote areas without AC infrastructure.

Compatibility

The UBB-XG integrates with any network infrastructure supporting standard Ethernet management and PoE++ delivery at 48V DC (±10% tolerance). A single GbE RJ45 port provides both management and data transport; an optional 1/10G SFP+ port enables higher-speed interfaces. It is NDAA-compliant and carries CE, FCC, IC, and Terragraph certifications, making it suitable for federal, state, and defense contracting environments. Ethernet-based management via standard network tools simplifies provisioning across distributed outdoor deployments.

Installation Notes

Mount the UBB-XG on vertical poles 1–2.5 inches in diameter using the included stainless steel bracket. The enclosure is aluminum alloy with UV-resistant polycarbonate, rated IPX6 for direct spray and moisture resistance; it withstands wind loading up to 56 N at 200 km/h (12.6 lbf at 125 mph). Operating temperature range is –40 to 55°C, accommodating extreme climates. Device dimensions are ⌀191.8 × 59 mm; total weight with mount is 2.9 kg (6.3 lb). Power consumption is 29W at 48V DC; use a PoE++ injector or compatible switch to deliver power over the Ethernet run. No additional AC mains or DC supply needed. Point-to-point alignment is critical for 60 GHz performance—use a site survey tool to verify line-of-sight and minimize obstruction. The 5 GHz backup automatically engages if atmospheric conditions (heavy rain, snow, fog) degrade the primary 60 GHz link.
