TP-Link TL-SM5110-SR 10GBase-SR SFP+ Transceiver
Overview
The TL-SM5110-SR is a 10GBase-SR SFP+ transceiver module that extends 10 Gbps Ethernet uplinks across multi-mode fiber to 300 meters (using OM3 50/125 µm cable) or 33 meters (OM1/OM2 62.5/125 µm). Deploy this module when your core or edge network fabric requires short-to-medium-range 10G connectivity without the cost premium of single-mode long-wavelength transceivers. Operating at 850nm wavelength with full-duplex capability, it plugs directly into any switch with available SFP+ slots — no external power, no configuration required.
Compatibility
Fits standard SFP+ (10G) slots on TP-Link JetStream switches (TL-SG3428X, TL-SG3428XMP, and other managed platforms with 10G SFP+ ports) and any third-party switch or network appliance with SFP+ MSA-compliant slots. Confirm your hardware has available SFP+ ports before ordering — this module does not fit legacy SFP (1G) form-factor slots. Supports full duplex and hot-swap insertion without port or stack restart.
Installation Notes
Insert the module directly into an unoccupied SFP+ port. Use clean, terminated multi-mode fiber jumper cables (SC or LC connectors) rated for 10G service. Contaminated fiber faceplates are the leading cause of 10G module failure — inspect connectors before mating. The module auto-negotiates upon insertion; allow 30 seconds for link establishment. Operating temperature range 0°C to 70°C (32°F to 158°F); storage range −40°C to 85°C. Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) support enables real-time optical power and temperature monitoring via your switch's management interface.
