Overview

The TL-SG1218MP is a 1U rackmount Gigabit switch built to deliver power and data across 16 PoE+ ports in a single cable run. Deploy this when you need to centralize power distribution for a mid-scale cluster of IP cameras, wireless access points, or networked security devices without running separate power infrastructure to each unit. The 250W shared PoE budget handles roughly 16 cameras at 15W each, or mixed loads of IP cameras and APs in branch offices, warehouse automation facilities, or retail deployments where infrastructure simplicity matters.

Compatibility

Works with any standard IP camera or PoE-powered device supporting IEEE 802.3af (up to 15.4W per port) or 802.3at PoE+ (up to 30W per port). Typical compatible devices include Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, and Uniview IP camera lines; Ubiquiti, TP-Link, and Arista wireless access points; and any PoE-compliant IP phone or network appliance. No vendor lock-in—the switch operates as a pure Layer 2/3 bridge with no proprietary device requirements. The two additional non-PoE Gigabit ports and dual SFP combo slots (Gigabit) provide uplink flexibility to existing network infrastructure without consuming the shared PoE budget.

Installation Notes

Verify total wattage of all attached devices before deployment—the 250W cap is shared across all 16 PoE ports, so a mix of 30W cameras will exceed budget quickly. The switch supports up to 250m data and power transmission range in Extend Mode, useful for distant camera runs, but standard Ethernet cable length limits apply (100m standard, up to 250m under Extend Mode conditions). Operating temperature range is 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F); verify rack cooling capacity in warm environments. Easy Smart management offers one-click port isolation, VLAN tagging, QoS per port, and PoE Auto Recovery (automatic port reset after anomalies)—no SNMP expertise required. Web and utility interfaces support remote configuration.
