Description

TP-Link TL-POE160S Gigabit PoE Injector

Overview

The TL-POE160S is a single-port PoE injector that converts a standard Ethernet connection into a powered Ethernet link. It supports both PoE (802.3af, 15.4W) and PoE+ (802.3at, 30W), making it suitable for deploying IP cameras, wireless access points, or other low-power network devices in locations where existing infrastructure lacks integrated power delivery. The injector accepts non-PoE input and outputs a single PoE-enabled port — ideal for retrofit installations where running new power lines is impractical or costly.

Compatibility

The TL-POE160S is compatible with any IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at-compliant device that operates within its power envelope. Typical deployments include fixed IP cameras rated for 15.4W–30W, IP-based intercom units, and compact wireless access point models. Verify your target device's actual power draw against the injector's 30W maximum output; exceeding this threshold will trigger shutdown. The injector works with standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cabling.

Installation Notes

Position the injector near the powered device to minimize cable runs from the AC outlet. Connect the injector's non-PoE input port to an upstream Ethernet source (switch, router, or NVR port), then patch its PoE output directly to your target device using standard Ethernet cable. The injector is non-managed — no configuration required. Install in a temperature-controlled environment; extended operation outside 0°C–40°C may degrade performance. Allow adequate ventilation around the unit.
