TP-Link TL-POE170S PoE++ Injector Adapter
Overview
The TL-POE170S is a single-port PoE injector that solves a specific problem: adding power to remote network devices when your upstream switch lacks PoE. It accepts Gigabit data-in on one RJ45 port, combines 60W of power, and delivers both across a single Cat5e/Cat6 cable run up to 100 meters. This means you install one cable instead of parallel AC runs to endpoint devices like wireless access points, IP cameras, or PTZ units. Compliance with IEEE 802.3af/at/bt standards ensures the injector automatically detects and supplies only the power each device actually needs — no oversupply, no waste.
Compatibility
The TL-POE170S works with any PoE-capable network device across standards: legacy 802.3af endpoints (6.5W budget), PoE+ devices (25.5W), and PoE++ endpoints up to 60W. This covers most commercial IP cameras, turrets, and domes; enterprise wireless access points; and powered network appliances. The auto-sensing algorithm ensures backward compatibility — if you connect a lower-power device, the injector supplies only what that device requests. Does not require or depend on a specific brand ecosystem.
Installation Notes
The injector operates over 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F), suitable for climate-controlled indoor deployments. Wall-mounting holes (102 mm apart) allow bracket installation; desktop deployment is equally viable. Input power is 100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz. Copper cable runs must not exceed 100 meters between injector and endpoint — distance is the constraint, not environment. No configuration required; plug the upstream data source into the PoE-in port, connect your powered device to the PoE+data-out port, and power the unit.
