Overview

The TP-Link POE4824G is a single-port passive PoE injector that combines 48V DC power and Ethernet data onto one cable. It solves the core problem of powering remote devices—wireless access points, IP cameras, outdoor CPEs, or specialized sensors—without running a separate power line. The injector accepts 48V DC input (from a dedicated power supply, sold separately) on one port and outputs both power and data on a single RJ-45 port to the target device. This topology is purpose-built for single isolated device feeds: one switch or router upstream, one powered endpoint downstream. At 24W output capacity, the POE4824G handles lower-power equipment; for multi-device or high-draw deployments, evaluate a powered network switch instead.

Compatibility

The POE4824G is verified compatible with TP-Link's passive PoE access points, including the EAP245 v3, EAP245 v4, EAP225 v3, EAP225 v5, EAP265 v1, and EAP650-Outdoor v1. It also works with outdoor CPE models including the CPE510 v3, CPE610 v2, CPE710 v1, and CPE710 v2. Any passive 48V PoE device rated for ≤24W will accept power from this injector. Do not use with active PoE (802.3af/at/bt) devices—the passive voltage will cause hardware damage. Input to the non-PoE port accepts standard Gigabit Ethernet from a switch, router, or PoE injector upstream. Output port uses RJ-45 connectors compatible with standard UTP Category 5e or STP cable up to 100 meters.

Installation Notes

The POE4824G requires a 48V DC power supply (not included in the box) capable of delivering at least 500mA continuously (24W ÷ 48V = 0.5A). Verify your power supply's amperage rating before installation. The unit operates from 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F); do not deploy in outdoor uncontrolled spaces or high-temperature environments without external thermal management. Connect the wall-mount kit (included) to a DIN rail, cabinet, or flat surface near your network source. Use standard Ethernet cabling between the injector and both the upstream network source and the downstream powered device. No configuration is required—auto-negotiation and MDIX detection are automatic. The plastic housing is suitable for climate-controlled indoor installations only.
