Overview

The TP-Link INSIGHT S245ZI is a 4MP motorized varifocal dome designed for indoor and light outdoor deployments where zoom flexibility solves field-of-view trade-offs at install time. The 2.7–13.5mm varifocal lens (5x optical zoom) lets you adjust coverage angle after mounting — critical when you cannot return to the ceiling or wall to swap fixed lenses. Combined with 120dB wide dynamic range and up to 60 meters of infrared coverage, this camera handles mixed-lighting retail floors, lobbies, and warehouse monitoring where you need adjustable framing without breaking the install budget.

Compatibility

The INSIGHT S245ZI integrates with TP-Link VIGI NVR systems via standard ONVIF (Profile S/T/G) connectivity and direct RTSP streaming. It pairs with VIGI VMS software for centralized monitoring and remote access via the VIGI mobile app. Standard PoE (802.3af/at) power delivery eliminates the need for separate DC supplies on most enterprise switch infrastructure. The built-in microphone and speaker enable two-way audio with compatible NVRs and VMS platforms that support audio routing.

Installation Notes

Mounting requires a standard ceiling or wall-mount bracket rated for the dome weight. The motorized lens mechanism (5x zoom motor) draws peak power during lens movement; ensure your PoE switch can deliver sustained 95W (typical DC 12V) or negotiate PoE+ (95W) injection for margin. The IP67 rating (dust and water jets) suits indoor ceilings and covered outdoor soffits; do not submerge or expose directly to high-pressure wash. IK10 impact resistance tolerates incidental contact on logistics docks or high-traffic corridors. Local configuration via web interface or VIGI App sets focus, zoom, and IR behavior; infrared LEDs can be disabled for scenes with ambient light to reduce power draw.
