Description

Allied Telesis AT-MMC2000/LC-960 Gigabit Copper-to-Multimode Fiber Media Converter

Overview

The AT-MMC2000/LC-960 is a TAA-compliant media and rate converter that bridges 10/100/1000BASE-T copper infrastructure to 1000BASE-SX multimode fiber via an LC connector interface. Designed for federal and government procurement environments where Trade Agreements Act compliance is a hard requirement, the AT-MMC2000/LC-960 also carries a multi-region designation, making it suitable for deployments that span international facilities under a single procurement vehicle. The core use case is extending network segments beyond the 100-meter copper limit, or connecting copper-based edge devices — IP cameras, access control panels, PoE switches — into a fiber backbone without replacing existing copper-terminated endpoints.

Compatibility

This converter operates within the Allied Telesis MMC2000 media converter product family. It accepts any 10/100/1000BASE-T copper input, making it protocol-agnostic at the edge — compatible with Gigabit-capable switches, NVRs, access control panels, and IP cameras from any vendor. The LC multimode fiber output targets 1000BASE-SX links, which typically reach up to 550 meters over OM2 multimode cable and further over OM3/OM4. Verify your fiber plant's multimode grade before deployment — this unit is not compatible with single-mode fiber runs or SFP-based infrastructure without an intermediary switch. Multi-region power input suits installations across North American and international facility types without requiring separate SKUs or external power adapters per region.

Installation Notes

Mount or rack this unit according to Allied Telesis chassis or standalone enclosure guidelines for the MMC2000 series. Confirm the fiber patch panel or switch port on the SX side is LC-duplex terminated to multimode glass. TAA compliance must be documented at the purchase order level for GSA Schedule or government contract use — retain the invoice and product labeling as procurement artifacts. Rate conversion between 10/100T and 1000SX is handled automatically; no manual speed configuration is required at the converter itself.
