Description

Allied Telesis AT-SPSX-90 1Gbps Multimode SFP Transceiver

Overview

The AT-SPSX-90 is a 1Gbps small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver designed for multimode fiber runs up to 500 meters using an 850nm laser with LC duplex connectors. It slots into any Allied Telesis switch, router, or media converter with a standard SFP bay, letting you extend Gigabit Ethernet across a building or campus backbone without pulling new cabling — provided your existing multimode fiber plant supports OM2 or better. This is the right part for structured cabling environments where IDF-to-MDF runs are already in place and you need a field-replaceable optical module that matches the Allied Telesis ecosystem.

Compatibility

The AT-SPSX-90 is designed for use with Allied Telesis switches and routers equipped with SFP slots, including the AT-x550, AT-x530, AT-x510, AT-GS950, and AT-FS980M series, as well as Allied Telesis media converters and stackable managed network switches across the product line. The LC duplex interface is the industry standard for multimode SFP applications, so physical fitment is straightforward in any Allied Telesis SFP-capable port. Verify your switch's SFP compatibility list before ordering — some managed switch platforms enforce vendor-specific transceiver authentication and will reject third-party modules. Using a genuine Allied Telesis transceiver eliminates that rejection risk and keeps your SFP transceiver under a consistent support umbrella. The 500m reach on multimode fiber suits intra-building runs; for single-mode or longer-distance requirements, a different transceiver in the Allied Telesis lineup is the correct choice.

Installation Notes

Insert the AT-SPSX-90 into the SFP port with the latch mechanism facing down per Allied Telesis port orientation convention. Clean LC fiber connectors before insertion — contamination at the ferrule face is the leading cause of degraded link performance on multimode optics. Confirm the fiber plant is OM1 (275m limit) or OM2/OM3/OM4 (500m limit) before assuming full-distance coverage. Hot-swap capable — the port does not require power cycling on supported platforms.
