STI KIT-E18151 N.C. Reed Switch and Magnet Assembly
Overview
The KIT-E18151 is a replacement normally closed (N.C.) reed switch and magnet assembly designed for the STI-SA5000 series electromechanical lock platform. This accessory provides the magnetic sensing component required to detect door position state and communicate lock status back to your access control system. It operates at 9VDC and integrates with HID credential reader infrastructure. Deploy this when your existing reed switch has failed, drifted out of alignment, or when you are expanding a multi-door access control deployment and need additional position-sensing assemblies.
Compatibility
The KIT-E18151 is engineered exclusively for the STI-SA5000 series lock platform. Verify your existing strike or lock model number before ordering — this assembly will not fit other STI lock families or third-party electromechanical strikes. The reed switch operates in concert with the integral magnet; both components are included in this kit. Compatible with single-door and multi-door access control systems using HID readers.
Installation Notes
The reed switch must be positioned within the magnetic field range of the magnet for reliable door state detection. Misalignment by more than approximately 0.25 inches will result in missed state transitions or intermittent reporting. Ensure the magnet is secured firmly to the door or door frame so it does not shift during use. Wiring to the access control panel should use shielded twisted-pair cable where runs exceed 50 feet to minimize false triggers from adjacent electrical noise. The 9VDC supply must be sourced from a regulated, filtered power supply — do not rely on unregulated transformer output.
