STI STI-6255 Mini Theft Stopper Lock
Overview
The STI-6255 is a standalone 9VDC magnetic reed-switch alarm lock designed to deter theft and unauthorized removal of fire extinguishers and other portable equipment in institutional facilities. Measuring 3.37 in. wide by 1 in. deep, it mounts directly to a fire extinguisher's pull pin or beneath equipment without disrupting normal operation—the device does not interfere with deployment or use of the protected asset. When the pin or protected item is lifted or moved, the reed switch triggers a 95 dB alarm at 1 meter, followed by automatic 3-minute reset. Powered by a single 9VDC alkaline cell, it requires no external wiring, AC power, or integration with a control panel.
Compatibility
The STI-6255 secures free-standing and cabinet-mounted fire extinguishers via its included universal clip, which accommodates various pin diameters. The clip can also be positioned under any equipment body to detect unauthorized lifting. No reader pairing or credential system is required—activation is purely mechanical via the magnetic reed switch. This makes it suitable for facilities without existing access control infrastructure or where equipment protection is needed independently of door-level security.
Installation Notes
Mount the clip directly onto the fire extinguisher's pull pin by routing the pin through the clip's dual-prong slots, then secure the clip with the extinguisher's pull-pin seal. Alternatively, position the clip under the equipment body so lifting triggers the switch. Installation requires no tools, drilling, or wiring. Replace the 9VDC alkaline battery when the alarm does not sound; no other maintenance is needed. The robust ABS housing and 3-year shell warranty support typical institutional duty cycles.
