STI STI-1222 Enclosed Back Box for Stopper® Dome Series
Overview
The STI-1222 is an enclosed back box designed to mount behind Stopper® Dome Series protective covers. It provides a weather-sealed installation point for fire alarm devices and manual call stations exposed to outdoor or harsh indoor conditions. The back box houses mounting hardware and cable entry points, allowing the Stopper dome cover to sit flush against the wall while maintaining weathertight integrity around the protected device. This setup prevents water ingress, dust accumulation, and UV damage to wiring and terminals — critical when your fire alarm or manual call point sits in a loading dock, exterior wall, or high-humidity warehouse environment.
Compatibility
The STI-1222 is engineered for use with the Stopper® Dome Series protective covers. Installation requires positioning the back box frame on the wall, drilling 7mm masonry anchor points, and securing it with the provided wall fixings. The box accommodates cable gaskets for common wiring systems and includes inserts to blank off unused cable entry holes in surface installations. Consult the Stopper II or Weather Stopper II datasheet to confirm exact compatible device models and frame sizes.
Installation Notes
The mounting procedure requires a 7mm masonry drill bit, wall anchors, and the screws supplied with the unit. Position the back box frame centrally over the device before drilling. Install the appropriate cable gasket based on your wiring type (individual conduit, cable tray, or surface runs). For surface-mount installations, insert blanking plugs into any unused cable entry holes. The enclosure is rated for outdoor and weather-exposed environments, so ensure all cable entry points are sealed with gaskets to maintain IP protection. Typical installation time is 15–20 minutes per unit.
