Description

Viking Electronics E-30-PT Stainless Steel Handsfree Push-To-Talk Entry Phone

Overview

The Viking Electronics E-30-PT is a telephone-line-powered, handsfree push-to-talk entry phone engineered for high-noise industrial and commercial environments where a standard always-on microphone would pick up too much ambient sound. Unlike conventional intercom handsets, the E-30-PT keeps mic sensitivity intentionally low until the TALK button is pressed — a practical decision for loading docks, manufacturing floors, parking structures, and utility yards where background noise would otherwise make every call unintelligible. The unit pairs an entry phone form factor with industrial-grade hardware: a 14-gauge, louvered 316 brushed stainless steel faceplate, IP66-rated enclosure, and an operating range that stretches from -30°F to 150°F. Flush-mount installation uses the included rough-in box; surface mount requires the optional VE-5x5 adapter plate.

Key Features

  • Push-To-Talk Architecture: Mic sensitivity is suppressed until the TALK button is actively depressed. In a compressor bay or warehouse receiving area, this means the far end hears your voice — not the forklift. Standard always-on handsfree designs fail in these environments; the E-30-PT is purpose-built for them.
  • 316 Marine-Grade Stainless Steel Faceplate: 316 SS resists chloride corrosion more aggressively than 304 SS, making this unit appropriate for coastal facilities, food-processing plants, and chemical environments where 304-grade hardware corrodes within months. The 14-gauge thickness adds rigidity against impact loads and vandal attempts.
  • IP66 Ingress Protection + EWP-Rated Humidity Tolerance: IP66 means the enclosure withstands direct high-pressure water jets — suitable for hose-down environments and driving rain. The EWP (Extreme Weather Protection) designation extends this to 100% condensing humidity, so freeze-thaw cycling and steam-rich environments won't degrade the internals.
  • Vandal-Resistant Construction: Laser-etched graphics resist peeling and defacing; security screws deter casual removal; the louvered 14-gauge faceplate deflects direct strikes. The push button switch itself carries an IP67 rating — meaning the switch seal exceeds the enclosure's IP66 rating, the most failure-prone point is actually the most protected.
  • Wide Thermal Operating Range (-30°F to 150°F): Most entry phones are specced to 14°F or 32°F at the cold end. The E-30-PT's -30°F floor covers unheated parking structures in northern climates and rooftop utility enclosures that bake in summer and freeze in winter without a separate heater kit.
  • Telephone-Line Powered, No Separate Power Supply Required: The E-30-PT draws power directly from the telephone line — minimum 24V DC talk battery, 20mA loop current. That eliminates a PoE injector, transformer, or conduit run for power. For remote gate calls, utility access points, or locations where running 120VAC is impractical, this is a significant installation cost reduction.
  • Up to 5 Programmable Numbers in Non-Volatile Memory: Numbers survive power loss without reprogramming. Five stored numbers provide enough flexibility to ring a guard station, a backup line, and a manager's cell — useful in facilities where the primary answer point isn't always staffed.
  • Flexible Mounting — Flush or Surface: The included rough-in box enables flush mount in new construction or retrofit into a standard 4×4 electrical box cutout (4
