Overview

The FDX60S1A is a single-fiber, bi-directional data transceiver designed to extend RS232, RS422, or 2/4-wire RS485 signals over fiber optic cable—solving the distance and noise immunity problem when legacy serial data must traverse long industrial runs or electromagnetically hostile environments. It handles asynchronous data up to 250 kbps at distances up to 69 km (43 miles) with a bit error rate below 10-9 at maximum optical loss, making it the right choice for remote telemetry, CCTV recorder command channels, or distributed access control systems where copper serial lines would introduce ground loops or signal degradation.

Compatibility

The FDX60S1A interfaces with any device outputting or receiving standard RS232, RS422, or RS485 signals—including video recorder control inputs, network switch management ports, PTZ camera controllers, alarm panels, and industrial PLCs. The terminal block connectors accept 22–14 AWG wire; optical connection uses ST fiber connectors. Single-mode fiber (1310 or 1550 nm wavelength) is required; multimode fiber is not supported. Pair with the recommended PS-A12060 power supply for industrial installations requiring redundancy or extended voltage range operation (operates 9–30 VDC; typical draw 2 W).
