Overview
The QNAP QSW-2104-2T-R2-US is a compact, zero-configuration 6-port multi-gigabit switch delivering four 2.5GbE RJ45 ports and two 10GbE RJ45 ports with a total switching capacity of 60Gbps. It is purpose-built for workgroups, NAS-attached storage networks, and surveillance edge deployments where client devices outrun standard gigabit but a managed switch is overkill. No driver installation, no web UI to configure — plug in and the switch negotiates 10G/5G/2.5G/1G/100Mb auto-speed on all ports, letting you mix 10GbE uplinks to a core switch or NAS with 2.5GbE drops to cameras, workstations, or access points from a single unit. The two 10GbE ports are the throughput backbone: connect a QNAP NAS with dual 10GbE NICs here and you get non-blocking uplink headroom even when all four 2.5GbE ports are saturated simultaneously.
Compatibility
Designed to pair directly with QNAP NAS models carrying 10GbE or 2.5GbE ports, including the TVS-h series, TS-x73AeU, TS-h1090FU, and similar units from the QNAP network-attached storage line. The 2.5GbE ports are compatible with any 802.3bz or 802.3an NIC, making them a natural fit for Intel 225/226-V NICs common in modern workstations, as well as Wi-Fi 6/6E access points with 2.5GbE uplinks. The auto-negotiation across five speed tiers (10G, 5G, 2.5G, 1G, 100Mb) means legacy gigabit endpoints drop in without a compatibility penalty — useful in mixed-generation network switch deployments where not every node has been refreshed. The RJ45 form factor on all six ports eliminates SFP+ transceiver cost, which matters in budget-constrained edge or branch installs. For PoE-dependent devices like IP cameras or VoIP phones, note this switch does not supply PoE — pair it with a dedicated PoE switch for powered endpoints, using the QSW-2104-2T-R2-US purely for multi-gig aggregation and uplink. Also integrates cleanly into NVR-based surveillance architectures where the recorder holds a 10GbE port and camera subnets feed through 2.5GbE-capable edge switches.
