Description

APC by Schneider Electric AP9884 Power Cord Splitter L21-20P to (3) L6-20R

Overview

The AP9884 is a branch-circuit splitter that converts a single NEMA L21-20P three-phase input into three NEMA L6-20R single-phase outputs. It solves a common rack-wiring problem: when your UPS or PDU presents an L21-20P receptacle but your equipment — servers, storage arrays, network gear — requires individual L6-20R connections. Rather than running a separate circuit or swapping distribution hardware, the AP9884 handles the split at the cord level. It is rated for 20A maximum line current at 50/60 Hz, keeping it within the capacity of standard 20A branch circuits. Weight is 2.25 lb, so it sits cleanly at the front of a rack without adding meaningful strain to the outlet. Color is black, matching standard APC rack infrastructure.

Compatibility

The AP9884 is designed for use with APC by Schneider Electric rack PDUs and UPS units that output via NEMA L21-20P — including models in the APC Symmetra, Smart-UPS, and Metered/Switched Rack PDU families that feature L21-20P receptacles. On the output side, it feeds any equipment with a NEMA L6-20R inlet, which covers a broad range of rack-mount servers, 208V single-phase PDUs, and power distribution accessories. Verify your source receptacle is L21-20P (20A, 3-phase, 4-wire) and that each downstream load stays within the circuit's shared 20A capacity — splitting does not increase available amperage. Consult your UPS or PDU documentation to confirm the outlet type before ordering.

Installation Notes

Mounting location is specified as front-of-rack. Operating relative humidity range is 0–95%. No tools are required for connection — the splitter plugs directly into the L21-20P source receptacle; the three L6-20R pigtails connect to downstream equipment. Ensure total load across all three outputs does not exceed 20A to stay within the rated maximum line current. At 3.00 lb packaged weight, no additional cable management hardware is required for most deployments, though a cable management arm is advisable if the pigtail arrangement creates tension on the source outlet.
