Overview

The A818 is a 6MP outdoor zoom dome engineered for fixed-position surveillance where you need to cover both wide scenes and capture detail without repositioning the camera. The 2.7–13.5mm lens (5x optical zoom) lets operators frame wide perimeter shots then zoom in on specific subjects — useful for parking lots, building facades, and loading dock areas where a fixed PTZ isn't justified but static coverage leaves blind spots. IP68 and IK10 ratings mean it survives coastal salt spray, heavy rain, and direct impact; operating range of −30°C to 60°C covers desert heat and arctic cold. Extreme WDR (150dB) handles simultaneous bright and dark areas in the same frame without the halo artifacts that degrade analytics. Dual IR LEDs (850nm) push 85m throw at 1.0 lux, enabling color night work on perimeter routes.

Compatibility

The A818 integrates into any ONVIF-compliant VMS (Profile S, Profile G, Profile T, Profile M) — Milestone, Genetec, Hikvision iVMS, and open-source platforms. PoE+ (802.3at) Class 3 power draws under 13W, so it doesn't strain standard enterprise switches. Audio input (2-way, mic-in, line-in, line-out) pairs with access control systems and intercom networks for coordinated perimeter alerts. Manual GPS positioning supports asset tracking and multi-site deployment logs. H.265, H.264, and MJPEG codec support ensures backward compatibility with older VMS and bandwidth flexibility — H.265 cuts storage roughly 40–50% versus H.264 on 24/7 streams.

Installation Notes

Mount options include wall, pole, corner, and rack installations. Single RJ-45 pigtail connector simplifies wiring — no separate power run needed. Board-mount lens design is fixed; there is no motorized focus or iris adjustment, so initial installation must account for depth-of-field across the monitored zone. Embedded analytics (VMD, people counting, smoke detection, face detection, tampering detection) process at the edge, reducing backend load and enabling immediate local alerts without a separate analytics appliance.
