ACTi B26 PoE+ Zoom Box Camera

• PoE+ (802.3at Class 3): Single Ethernet run eliminates separate 12V power infrastructure. Class 3 power draw means you need PoE+ capable switches (Gigabit 802.3at minimum); standard 802.3af is insufficient. Budget for a PoE+ injector or switch upgrade if your infrastructure is older.
• H.265 Adaptive Bitrate + H.264 + MJPEG Simultaneous Streams: Triple-codec output means legacy VMS platforms (consuming MJPEG) and modern platforms (pulling H.265) can coexist on the same NVR without renegotiation. H.265 Adaptive Stream reduces bitrate 30-50% on static scenes versus constant H.264 quality.
• IP66 + –20°C to 50°C Operating Range: Genuine outdoor durability. We've deployed units in heavy rain, snow, and salt-spray environments without premature failure. Thermal shutdown risk is minimal across North American climate zones.
• ONVIF Profile S/G/T/M: Vendor-agnostic integration. No custom drivers; firmware patches are infrequent. Works with Milestone, Genetec, Axis Camera Station, and third-party VMS without codec or control conflicts.

Deployment Considerations:

• PoE+ Switch Dependency: The B26 requires 802.3at (PoE+) infrastructure. If your site is wired for 802.3af (standard PoE), you'll need a PoE+ injector or switch upgrade. Verify power budget before installation; Class 3 devices can tax underprovisioned injectors.
• Optical Zoom Range Clarity: At maximum zoom (165.6 mm, ~35x magnification), image quality depends on lighting and atmospheric clarity. On foggy or dusty days, the narrow field of view limits usable range. Backlight and WDR help, but don't assume forensic clarity at full zoom in poor visibility.
• Fixed-Position Only: The B26 is a fixed-focus, fixed-position camera. If your use case requires tracking moving subjects or dynamic pan-tilt coverage, specify a PTZ motorized alternative. For stationary sightlines (doors, gates, lot perimeters), this is a strength — no servos means longer MTBF.
• Smoke Detection Tuning Required: The on-board smoke detection analytics can generate false positives in dusty warehouses or high-pollen environments. Budget for initial tuning and sensitivity adjustment during first 2-4 weeks of operation.
• Board-Mount Lens (No Field Replacement): The lens is factory-sealed and not user-serviceable. Lens cleaning must be done externally; internal dust or condensation requires RMA to the manufacturer. Protect from direct spray during hose-down operations.
• Bitrate Monitoring on Adaptive Stream: H.265 Adaptive Stream is intelligent but not predictable. On highly dynamic scenes (busy retail, crowded parking entrance), bitrate can spike to full 12 Mbps. Set NVR recording policies to hard bandwidth caps, not percentage reserves, to avoid upstream network congestion.
