Pelco SRXP4-2V10-IMD

Pelco SRXP4-2V10-IMD Overview

The Pelco SRXP4-2V10-IMD is a Sarix Professional 4 Series indoor dome network camera configured for 2.0 MP imaging with a remote-adjust varifocal lens and on-camera analytics. This specific model designation is the indoor dome variant (IMD) and, unlike the -IR SKUs, does not include integrated IR illumination. It is designed for indoor coverage where controlled lighting is common but where wide dynamic scenes and reliable event extraction still matter, such as lobbies, corridors, retail floors, light industrial interiors, and campus common areas. The platform supports multi-stream H.264/H.265 and Motion JPEG with Pelco Smart Compression and idle scene mode to manage storage and bandwidth without requiring a forklift upgrade of switching or recording infrastructure.

Optical System and Coverage Geometry – What Actually Matters

The SRXP4-2V10-IMD uses a 3.4-10.5 mm motorized lens with remote zoom and focus, autofocus, and an IR cut filter. The specified horizontal angle of view spans 101 degrees at the wide end down to 31 degrees at the tele end, with a vertical angle of view from 53 degrees down to 17 degrees. Operationally, this means you can treat the camera as a flexible indoor coverage tool: wide settings favor situational awareness and fewer cameras per area, while tele settings increase pixel density for faces, hands, and transaction detail at choke points. Because it is a varifocal dome, commissioning can be done after mounting to match real-world shelf lines, desk positions, or corridor geometry rather than relying on paper estimates. The tradeoff is that any increase in pixel density from tightening the field of view reduces overall area coverage, so camera placement should prioritize either breadth (wide) or identification (tele) per zone rather than expecting one viewpoint to do both equally well.

AI and Analytics (only if supported)

This model supports Pelco Smart Analytics with classified object detection and a set of rules-based events including objects in area, loitering, beam crossing, object appears/enters, not present, enter/leave counts, stop in area, too close, abandoned/removed, direction violated, tamper detection, and related triggers. Classified object types are documented as Person in indoor mode, and Person and Vehicle in outdoor mode. For indoor deployments, this enables event-driven recording and operator alerting workflows that reduce motion-only noise, especially in spaces with intermittent activity. Analytics performance is still dependent on scene design: stable mounting, controlled glare, and deliberate coverage geometry will materially improve detection reliability and reduce nuisance events.

Image Quality and Low Light Performance

The camera supports True Wide Dynamic Range with a specified dynamic range of 83 dB with WDR off and 126 dB with WDR on. This is important for indoor scenes with strong backlight such as glass entries, loading bay doors viewed from inside, or mixed lighting across aisles. Minimum illumination is specified as 0.01 lux in color mode and 0.005 lux in monochrome mode without IR at a 33 ms shutter speed, aligning the camera for typical indoor light levels while acknowledging that extremely dark areas may require supplemental lighting or selection of an IR-equipped (-IR) model. Streaming resolutions include primary 1920x1080 and 1440x1080, with extensive secondary and tertiary stream options to support VMS live view efficiency while keeping the recorder stream optimized for evidentiary capture.

Environmental and Durability Ratings

As an indoor dome, the SRXP4-2V10-IMD is rated IK10 for impact resistance and IP52 for ingress protection, supporting installation in publicly accessible interiors where tamper resistance and incidental dust/moisture exposure are concerns. Operating temperature is specified as -10 C to +60 C with 0-95% non-condensing humidity. The mechanical design supports surface, in-ceiling, and pendant mounting approaches, allowing adaptation to architectural constraints without changing the camera family.

Infrastructure and Security Considerations

Networking is 100BASE-TX over CAT5 or higher with an RJ45 connector and ONVIF Profile S, T, G, and M conformance. Cyber controls include password protection, HTTPS encryption, digest authentication, WS authentication, user access log, 802.1x port-based authentication, secure boot (noted as available on models manufactured after May 2023), signed and encrypted firmware, and an onboard FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certified TPM, with optional licensing for FIPS 140-2 Level 1 cryptographic mode. Onboard storage is supported via microSD/microSDHC/microSDXC (video speed class card required; Class V10 or better recommended; 1.5 TB tested). Power is provided via IEEE 802.3af Class 3 PoE or 12 VDC auxiliary input; indoor dome PoE draw is specified at 10 W max (8 W with no IR or IR disabled).

When This Is the Right Choice

Choose the SRXP4-2V10-IMD when you need an indoor-rated, vandal-resistant dome with motorized varifocal coverage flexibility, strong WDR for mixed indoor lighting, and classified analytics to reduce false alarms and support event-driven workflows, while staying within standard 802.3af PoE constraints.

When It Is Not the Right Choice

It is not the right choice for outdoor exposure or washdown environments that require higher ingress protection, nor for spaces that routinely fall to near-dark conditions where an integrated IR (-IR) model would be the safer selection. It is also not ideal where higher-than-2 MP pixel density is required at wide coverage angles, in which case a higher-resolution SRXP4 variant should be evaluated.
