NETGEAR CBK753-100NAS Orbi WiFi 6 D3.1 Cable Modem Bundle
Overview
The CBK753-100NAS is a combined cable modem and WiFi 6 mesh router bundle designed to integrate broadband delivery with wireless network coverage. This is a deployment-focused device for environments where a single ISP connection must serve multiple access points and wireless endpoints — common in distributed surveillance installations, retail multi-location deployments, or warehouse automation systems where wired infrastructure isn't practical everywhere.
The D3.1 modem standard supports DOCSIS 3.1 cable networks, delivering higher throughput than earlier DOCSIS versions. WiFi 6 (802.11ax) reduces latency and improves efficiency across connected devices, which matters when you're pushing video streams, backup uploads, or real-time sensor data over the same mesh.
Compatibility
This bundle works with any IP-based surveillance camera, NVR, access control system, or network device that connects via standard Ethernet or WiFi. It is not camera-specific; it functions as the network foundation layer. Compatible with:
- Standard DOCSIS 3.1 cable ISP connections (check with your provider for DOCSIS 3.1 availability in your area)
- Any 802.11ax (WiFi 6)-capable endpoints, as well as older WiFi 5 and WiFi 4 devices (backward compatible)
- Standard Ethernet-connected surveillance devices, NVRs, and edge recorders
- VMS platforms communicating over standard TCP/IP networks
If your site uses a dedicated, pre-installed broadband connection with its own modem already in place, this bundle may be redundant. Verify DOCSIS 3.1 modem support from your cable ISP before deployment — not all providers have upgraded their network infrastructure.
Installation Notes
Cable entry requires a live coaxial line from your ISP. The bundle includes the modem unit and mesh router nodes; mount the router in a central location for WiFi coverage. Mesh topology allows you to position additional nodes to cover dead zones — typical for larger facilities or multi-building deployments. Ethernet backhaul between modem and primary router improves throughput stability compared to WiFi-only mesh.
Configure the modem's WAN side to the ISP coax connection, then set up the mesh network with your SSID and security credentials. Most modern surveillance systems support both wired and wireless fallback, so position at least one hardwired Ethernet drop to your NVR or primary recording device.
