NETGEAR CAX80-100NAS NIGHTHAWK AX8 WiFi 6 Cable Modem Router
Overview
The CAX80-100NAS is a two-in-one DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem and WiFi 6 router that eliminates the need for separate equipment. It combines 8-stream 802.11ax WiFi 6 (AX6000) with a DOCSIS 3.1 modem capable of delivering gigabit-class speeds when available from your ISP. This integrated approach reduces clutter, simplifies setup, and cuts out the modem-router handoff latency that plagues separate devices. Deploy it in residential or small-office environments where a single wall-mounted or shelf-placed unit needs to handle both WAN connectivity and multi-client wireless coverage.
Compatibility
The CAX80-100NAS works with any ISP using DOCSIS 3.0 or 3.1 cable networks — check with your provider before purchase to confirm modem compatibility. The device supports standard Ethernet clients (wired via the rear RJ-45 ports) and any WiFi 6 client device (802.11ax-capable phones, laptops, tablets, IoT gear). Backward compatible with WiFi 5 (802.11ac) and earlier standards, so legacy devices will connect, though they won't achieve the full AX bandwidth. No special configuration required — standard DHCP and static IP assignments apply.
Installation Notes
Mount the modem router in a central location away from metal objects and microwave ovens to maximize WiFi coverage. Connect the coax input to your cable line, plug in the power adapter, and run the web-based setup wizard at netgear.com/setup or via the NETGEAR mobile app. The unit draws power from a single AC adapter — confirm that your outlet location is within cord reach of the cable termination point. For wired backhaul or NAS/media server connections, use the Ethernet ports on the rear panel.
