The Optex SIP-404 is a narrow-beam outdoor PIR detector designed for fence-line, corridor, and linear perimeter protection. Its 40-meter range × 4-meter width creates a tight detection curtain—essentially a virtual trip wire along walls, building edges, loading docks, and rooftop perimeters. Unlike wide-angle motion detectors, the SIP-404's extreme aspect ratio minimizes nuisance triggers from vehicle movement or animal crossing outside the protected zone.

The SIP-404 belongs to Optex's Synthesized Intelligent PIR (SIP) family, meaning it uses adaptive sensitivity algorithms that adjust detection thresholds in real time based on ambient temperature and light conditions. This self-tuning behavior cuts false alarms in environments where traditional PIR detectors struggle—parking areas with heat shimmer, building facades with sun load, or corridors with HVAC drafts. Three dual pyroelectric sensor elements with Double Conductive Shielding handle the main detection zone, while dedicated dual elements cover the creep zone (the area immediately around the unit). Independent sensitivity selectors for far, near, and creep zones (super-high, high, medium, low) let you fine-tune per deployment scenario.

The SIP-404 integrates with standard alarm systems, video management systems (VMS), and access control platforms via its relay output logic (AND/OR selectable). It operates at 26 VDC, common in most perimeter security installations. The detector includes a 3-axis accelerometer that detects tampering—any physical movement or rotation after installation triggers an anti-rotation trouble signal. An integrated photo-beam sensor detects lens obstruction (spray, tape, covers) and generates an independent masking alarm. Both supervision signals help ensure the detector remains operational and unobstructed. Ensure the lens faces the threat direction and is kept clear of debris or moisture buildup.
