Optex SIP-3020 Smart Intelligent PIR Detector
Overview
The Optex SIP-3020 is a network-connected outdoor PIR detector engineered for perimeter and boundary intrusion detection in integrated security systems. Unlike hardwired alarm loop sensors, the SIP-3020 transmits detection events over IP, eliminating dedicated alarm cabling and enabling real-time alerting to your VMS or access control platform. The unit fits installations where you need motion-triggered video recording or PTZ camera control across extended perimeters without running separate alarm infrastructure.
Built with three dual pyro-elements and a patented Double Conductive Shielding design, the SIP-3020 uses an intelligent detection algorithm that samples ambient temperature and illuminance to adjust sensitivity automatically — this prevents false alarms from thermal drift (common in outdoor sensors across temperature swings) and handles varying daylight conditions without manual recalibration. An independent creep-zone detector (built-in, separate relay output) covers the immediate area below the unit, useful for detecting climbing or tampering attempts on the mounting structure itself.
Compatibility
The SIP-3020 integrates with ONVIF-compatible video management systems and third-party security platforms that accept IP event inputs. It pairs well with IP camera deployments where you need motion-triggered recording or PTZ activation across perimeter zones. Network integration requires a PoE switch or injector; the sensor communicates standard TCP/IP protocols and does not require proprietary gateways. Confirm your VMS or access control system supports generic IP event hooks before deployment.
Installation Notes
Mount the SIP-3020 at maximum 4 meters (13 feet) installation height for optimal detection performance. The unit ships with adjustable detection angle — align the main coverage area to match your camera field of view so any intruder triggering the sensor is visible on video. Detection range selector and independent sensitivity controls for creep, near, and far zones allow tuning to your site geometry without physical repositioning. Anti-rotation and anti-masking functions detect vandalism or physical tampering; alarm interval time is adjustable to prevent alert flooding from transient motion. IP65 rating handles outdoor rain and dust; confirm your mounting location does not expose the sensor to direct spray or standing water. Operates reliably across −40°C to 60°C (−40°F to 140°F), supporting both warm and cold climate deployments.
