Optex SIP-100 REDWALL Smart Intelligent PIR Detector
Overview
The Optex SIP-100 is an outdoor passive infrared detector engineered to trigger video verification systems and protect perimeters at ranges up to 33 feet (10 meters). Unlike conventional PIR sensors that require seasonal recalibration, the SIP-100 uses Optex's Synthesized Intelligent PIR (SIP) platform—it continuously monitors ambient temperature and illuminance levels, automatically adjusting detection thresholds to maintain consistent alarm reliability across day/night and seasonal temperature swings. This adaptive behavior cuts false alarms caused by environmental drift, a critical factor when the detector's job is to trigger PTZ presets or recording events on fixed cameras.
Compatibility
The SIP-100 is purpose-built for video surveillance systems requiring external alarm triggering. It outputs independent signals for PIR detection and anti-tamper events, allowing integration with PTZ camera controllers and video management systems that accept discrete alarm inputs. The adjustable detection angle allows precise alignment with associated camera fields of view—critical for ensuring alarm triggers fall within recording areas. BS8418 compliance validates the detector for UK police response video verification deployments.
Installation Notes
The SIP-100 operates on 26 VDC supply voltage. Three-zone independent sensitivity selection (far, near, and creep zones) enables precise tuning of detection response across the coverage area to match your specific deployment boundary. A 3-axis accelerometer built into the housing immediately signals if the unit is physically moved or rotated post-installation—critical for security-sensitive installations where detector repositioning could be an indicator of tampering. The anti-masking photo-beam detects spray paint, tape, or lens obstruction, generating a separate trouble output to alert monitoring stations of coverage compromise. Both anti-rotation and anti-masking functions provide dedicated outputs, giving your system clear visibility into tamper attempts versus legitimate alarms.
