Overview
The K-1705-3-BN-EWP is a telephone-line-powered video entry phone built for exterior access points — building entrances, vestibules, and secured doors where you need integrated video verification, keypad credential entry, and two-way audio from a single flush- or surface-mounted unit. It ships ready for flush installation in the included rough-in box or surface mounting with an optional VE-6x7 enclosure. The oil rubbed bronze powder-coated finish and 14-gauge louvered 316 stainless steel faceplate distinguish it from the standard K-1705-3-EWP — same hardened internals, different aesthetic for architectural environments. The EWP designation means sealed operation up to 100% humidity, making it appropriate for covered outdoor deployments subject to direct moisture exposure. Power comes from the telephone line itself (20V DC / 20mA minimum) — no separate power supply or PoE infrastructure required.
Compatibility
The K-1705-3-BN-EWP integrates with any telephone system capable of supplying 20V DC / 20mA on the line, with a ring voltage of at least 25V AC RMS and CPC disconnect support (500ms minimum). Video output is composite (NTSC, 420 lines / 640×480 at 30fps) and runs up to 1,000 ft on RG59 or RG6 coax with solid center conductor and 95% bare copper braid shield, or up to 150 ft on CAT5E — pair it with any composite-input video monitor, DVR, or analog video door station receiver within those wire run limits. The keypad supports access control integration where the connected telephone system or controller accepts DTMF input. The rough-in box fits standard new-construction wall openings; surface mounting requires the separately purchased VE-6x7 enclosure, which is not included.
Installation Notes
Faceplate fasteners are 6-32 × 0.75-inch T-10 Torx security screws — a T-10 Torx driver is required and not included. The camera is field-adjustable: vertical tilt ±20°, horizontal swivel ±30°, giving you enough range to compensate for off-center rough-in placement without re-mounting. Operating range is -30°F to 150°F, suitable for harsh northern climates or sun-exposed southern exposures. Use only RG59/RG6 with solid center conductor and 95% bare copper braid shield on coax runs; stranded-center or aluminum-braid cable will degrade video quality before you approach the 1,000 ft limit. Speaker output reaches 70 dB at 1 meter — adequate for noisy entrances but not a PA replacement.
