Description

Viking Electronics K-600F Night Bell Over Paging Adapter

Overview

The K-600F is a passive ring-signal-to-paging interface that delivers an electronic warble tone through an existing paging amplifier every time it receives ring voltage from an analog PABX or KSU extension. Because the K-600F is powered entirely by the ring signal — 40VAC at 20Hz minimum — no external power supply or separate transformer is required. That matters in retrofit installs where adding a power circuit is inconvenient or cost-prohibitive. The 600-ohm floating audio output keeps the signal clean on cable runs up to 50 ft (15.24m) with output below 0.5Vpp, and the onboard relay contacts (0.5A @ 125VAC / 1A @ 30VDC) allow automatic priority switching between paging and ring notification without manual intervention.

Compatibility

The K-600F is designed for use with analog paging amplifiers that accept line-level audio input and support external relay switching — specifically the Viking Electronics PA-30 paging amplifier. The ring input accepts any analog PABX or KSU extension port that delivers standard ring voltage (40VAC / 20Hz minimum, 1.0A REN). It is not intended for VoIP or digital telephony systems that do not generate a physical ring signal. Where loud ring priority over voice paging is required, the K-600F wired to a PA-30 handles that switching automatically via its relay terminals — no additional logic or controller needed. If you are sourcing a complete paging solution, review the broader intercom and paging category for compatible amplifiers and distribution hardware.

Installation Notes

Audio cable runs are limited to 50 ft (15.24m) from the K-600F to the paging amplifier input — exceed this and signal integrity degrades. Operating environment must stay within 32°F to 90°F (0°C to 32°C) and 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity; this is an indoor-only device and is not rated for outdoor or unconditioned spaces. Relay contacts are rated for 0.5A @ 125VAC or 1A @ 30VDC — verify your switching load stays within these limits before wiring. The unit ships with screw terminals for field wiring; no proprietary connectors required. For telephone entry and analog door phone applications feeding into paging systems, the K-600F can interface the ring output to the paging amplifier in the same wiring run.
