Description

Viking Electronics PSA-IP IP Paging Speaker Adapter

Overview

The Viking Electronics PSA-IP converts a standard passive speaker into a SIP-addressable IP paging endpoint — no separate amplifier, no local power supply. The PSA-IP draws under 13W via 802.3af PoE Class 3, so any standard PoE switch port powers it without requiring a PoE+ budget. The built-in 6W Class D amplifier drives connected speakers to a measured 105 dB SPL at 1 meter, suitable for warehouse floors, loading docks, parking structures, and other high-ambient-noise environments. SIP 2.0 (RFC 3261) compliance means it registers directly to any standards-based IP PBX or paging controller — Cisco, Polycom, Asterisk, or Viking Electronics VoIP systems — without proprietary middleware. Multicast paging is also supported for zone-broadcast deployments where you need simultaneous announcements across multiple endpoints from a single IP paging system.

Compatibility

The PSA-IP integrates with any SIP 2.0–compliant IP PBX or paging controller supporting RFC 3261. Supported audio codecs are G.711u, G.722, and G.711a for SIP calls; multicast paging supports G.711u and G.722. The network interface is 100BASE-Tx via a single RJ45 port — connect to any 802.3af-capable switch. For speaker wiring, the PSA-IP accepts connections via two butt connectors and two lever connectors, supporting cable runs up to 2,000 feet — long enough to reach remote speakers in large facilities without a local amp. It is not a standalone speaker; it requires an externally wired passive speaker. Pair with Viking's paging accessories or existing passive speaker infrastructure already on-site.

Installation Notes

The PSA-IP is rated for –40°F to 140°F operating temperature and 5–95% non-condensing humidity, making it deployable in unconditioned spaces such as warehouses, cold-storage anterrooms, and outdoor-adjacent enclosures. Dimensions are 3.63
