Description

Viking Electronics PA-IP SIP/Multicast Paging Adapter with Amplifier

Overview

The PA-IP is a SIP 2.0-compliant paging adapter and built-in amplifier that bridges VoIP phone systems and IP multicast networks to analog paging infrastructure — no separate power supply required. It draws under 13W via 802.3af PoE (Class 3), making it a clean fit for deployments where pulling AC to a ceiling or wall enclosure is impractical. The PA-IP handles the full conversion chain: SIP call or multicast group → audio decode → 6W Class-D amplification → analog speaker output. Supported audio codecs include G.711u, G.722, and G.711a for SIP sessions, and G.711u and G.722 for multicast paging, covering the wideband audio range that matters for voice intelligibility in noisy environments. Frequency response runs 55–18,000 Hz (±10 dB), wide enough for clear speech reproduction across standard paging horns and ceiling speakers. Maximum output is 105 dB SPL at 1 meter when driving a Viking 40AE ceiling speaker — adequate headroom for warehouses, retail floors, and industrial corridors. The single RJ45 port (10/100BASE-Tx) handles both PoE power and network data, and an 11-position terminal block provides the analog output connections. Paging prioritization is built in, preventing call conflicts when multiple zones or SIP extensions attempt simultaneous pages.

Compatibility

The PA-IP is designed to drive up to six 8-Ohm paging horns directly from its amplified output, plus a 600-Ohm line-level audio output and a paging contact for integration with external amplifiers or zone controllers. It is explicitly matched with the Viking Electronics 40AE ceiling speaker for verified SPL performance. For installations requiring rack-mount form factor or AC power instead of PoE, Viking's PA-250-IP (19
