NETGEAR CM1200-100NAS Cable Modem
Overview
The CM1200-100NAS is a cable modem built for Xfinity subscribers who need multi-gigabit-capable WAN throughput. DOCSIS 3.1 support means you can pull downstream speeds up to 10 Gbps and upstream to 1.2 Gbps — if your Xfinity service tier supports it. This matters for security integrators provisioning broadband backbone to multi-camera NVR deployments, especially when 24/7 encoding across 20+ channels demands low-latency, high-bandwidth WAN failover or remote cloud backup.
Compatibility
The CM1200-100NAS is certified for Comcast Xfinity residential and small-business service. It operates as a standalone modem (bridge or gateway mode) and connects via Ethernet to network switches, routers, or PoE injectors upstream of your security infrastructure. Standard RJ-45 Ethernet output integrates with any ONVIF-compliant NVR, surveillance switch, or managed network stack. Not compatible with other cable carriers (Charter, Cox, etc.).
Installation Notes
Connect coaxial cable from wall outlet to the RF In port; connect Ethernet from modem to your upstream network infrastructure (switch, router, or PoE-managed switch). Modem requires standard AC power (included). Allow 2–5 minutes for DOCSIS synchronization on initial boot. Verify Xfinity provisioning status via web interface (192.168.0.1 default) before deploying downstream security devices.
