Description

Lantronix NTC-140-02 Gigabit Multimode Media Converter

Overview

The Lantronix NTC-140-02 is a Gigabit media converter that bridges multimode fiber and copper Ethernet at 1 Gbps. Deploy it when you need to extend network reach across long distances using fiber backbone while maintaining standard Gigabit copper drops to end devices — common in campus installations, industrial zones, and security infrastructure where fiber runs between buildings or equipment cabinets but end-points remain copper-wired.

Compatibility

The NTC-140-02 integrates into any standard Gigabit Ethernet network supporting 1000Base-SX multimode fiber connections. It works in both managed and unmanaged network environments — no protocol negotiation required. Compatible with Gigabit switches, routers, and IP cameras that terminate on copper RJ-45. Fiber-to-copper conversion is passive from a protocol perspective; any device that speaks standard Gigabit Ethernet on either side will pair with this converter.

Installation Notes

Power the NTC-140-02 via a 4-pin Molex connector using an external PSU (PSU-0067 recommended). Multimode fiber connections use standard duplex SC or ST connectors depending on your cabling run — verify your fiber patch panel termination before ordering. Copper side is RJ-45. No configuration needed — insert both cables and throughput passes at full 1 Gbps. Suitable for indoor cabinet and equipment-room mounting; verify ambient temperature and ventilation match your installation space.
