The SGPAT1040-305-FNA bridges copper Ethernet and single-mode fiber segments, supporting 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and 1 GbE auto-negotiation. This unit solves the classic run-length and EMI isolation problem: when you need to extend beyond standard twisted-pair limits or isolate noisy industrial environments from security backbone fiber, a media converter avoids the cost and complexity of dual-infrastructure NIC management. Install it at the point where your fiber backbone meets equipment expecting RJ-45 — no protocol conversion, just physical layer bridging.
The SGPAT1040-305-FNA works with any standard Ethernet device that speaks 10/100/1000 Base-T on the copper side (cameras, NVRs, switches, edge appliances). On the fiber side, it termmates to standard single-mode transceivers and patch cords. TAA compliance makes it eligible for federal, state, and institutional procurement channels. Integrators commonly deploy it in security backbone extensions, ISP-to-site drops, industrial automation links, and telecom carrier environments where fiber runs exceed safe twisted-pair distances or electromagnetic isolation is mandatory.
Confirm your fiber runs are single-mode (typically yellow-jacketed, 9 µm core) before terminating — multimode fiber will not work reliably with this converter. RJ-45 port expects standard Cat5e or better patch cords on the copper side. Install in a controlled environment; the converter itself requires standard commercial power and is not rated for outdoor exposure without external housing. Test connectivity across both the fiber and copper segments before final deployment — a failed fiber connection often appears as a silent link-down on the RJ-45 side.
