Kantech KT-8DE4-WPA 8-Door ProWire Controller Enclosure
Overview
The KT-8DE4-WPA is a factory-prewired access control enclosure designed to control up to 8 doors on a single system. It integrates power distribution, controller mounting, and battery management in a single wall-mounted cabinet—eliminating field wiring and reducing installation labor on multi-door commercial and institutional deployments. This enclosure accepts Kantech KT-1-PCB/2/4 controllers on a removable backplate and ships with the internal wiring harness already connected, so installers need only connect mains power and door lock wiring at the terminals.
Compatibility
The KT-8DE4-WPA works with Kantech KT-1-PCB/2/4 access control panels. It is purpose-built for the ProWire STANDARD platform and integrates with Kantech unified power and battery systems (SLA or LiFePO4 options). Compatible with multi-door installations requiring centralized power management and emergency door release via onboard fire alarm interface (FAI).
Installation Notes
Input voltage is user-selectable: 120VAC, 208VAC, or 230VAC at 50/60Hz. The enclosure provides selectable 12VDC or 24VDC output on fused lock power and auxiliary power channels, controlled by the KT controller relay outputs. Operating temperature range is 32–122°F (0–50°C). All internal power and distribution modules are factory-installed; no cabinet-side wiring is required by the field installer. Mounting is via predrilled backplate. The removable design facilitates serviceability and controller replacement without disturbing the power infrastructure.
Key Features
- Factory-prewired harness: All internal connections to KT-1-PCB/2/4 controllers come complete—no need for point-to-point field wiring inside the cabinet, cutting labor hours on installation.
- Dual voltage power options: Accepts 120, 208, or 230VAC input and outputs user-selected 12 or 24VDC on every lock and auxiliary channel—eliminates the need for external step-down supplies.
- Integrated battery system: Accommodates SLA or LiFePO4 batteries with managed charging, low-cutoff protection to prevent deep discharge, and 50% faster recharge than standalone systems.
- Fused power distribution: Protects controller relays from high inrush current during lock switching; managed outputs allow remote power cycling and battery testing via the KT controller.
- Onboard fire alarm interface: Centrally releases all doors on FAI trigger—critical for life-safety compliance in multi-door facilities.
- Removable backplate design: Simplifies future controller and battery module replacement without cabinet removal.
