Overview
The Middle Atlantic AP-4 is a 4-rack-unit (7 in.) hinged blank panel designed to cover unused rack space in 19-inch EIA-standard enclosures. The hinged construction is the functional differentiator here: unlike fixed blanks, the AP-4 swings open to provide quick access to cabling, patch points, or equipment behind the panel without removing it entirely — useful in dense AV racks, security equipment bays, and structured wiring cabinets where cables run vertically behind blank positions. The aluminum construction keeps it light at 1.6 lbs shipped while maintaining a clean, professional appearance with a flat black powder coat finish that matches standard Middle Atlantic rack furniture.
Compatibility
The AP-4 fits any standard 19-inch EIA-310 rack or rack enclosure with two-post or four-post mounting geometry. Compatible with the full Middle Atlantic rack enclosure lineup — including BGR, ERK, SRK, and WRK series cabinets — as well as any third-party 19-inch rack systems that accept standard rack-unit panels. The panel occupies exactly 4U of vertical rack space (7 in.) and mounts via two points, matching the standard two-hole-per-RU rail spacing. Works alongside other Middle Atlantic blank panels and accessories where mixed RU sizes are needed to fill a cabinet.
Installation Notes
Panel width is 19 in. (48.3 cm) and depth is 1.4 in. (3.6 cm) — confirm you have at least 1.4 in. of clearance behind the rail before installing in shallow-depth cabinets or wall-mount enclosures. Two mounting points secure the panel to the rack rails; standard rack screws or cage nuts (not included — match to your rail type) are required. The hinged mechanism opens toward the installer, so ensure there is adequate front clearance when the door swings open in tight equipment rooms or closets.
