Overview
The Middle Atlantic VPM-4 is a 4RU (7-inch usable height) vertical panel mount designed to surface-mount standard 19.25-inch rack equipment directly to a wall — no full rack enclosure required. It accepts 10-32 rack rails and supports up to 200 lbs (90.7 kg) of mounted equipment, making it a practical solution for shallow-depth installations where a full-depth rack is impractical: telecom closets, back-of-wall AV gear, security panel deployments, and structured cabling endpoints. At 6 inches deep, the VPM-4 keeps the wall footprint minimal while still accommodating shallow rack-mount gear. TAA compliant for federally funded projects.
Compatibility
The VPM-4 accepts any standard 19-inch rack-mount equipment using 10-32 threaded rail fasteners — the industry-standard thread for 1U through 4U rack panels, patch panels, amplifiers, NVRs, and access control panels. Compatible with Middle Atlantic's own rack-mount equipment line, including shallow rack accessories and 1–4RU panels. At 19.25 inches wide, it aligns with EIA-310 standard rack rail spacing. The 6-inch depth limits rear clearance, so verify component depth before mounting; most 1U and 2U network switches, patch panels, and shallow NVRs fit within this envelope. Not suited for full-depth server chassis or deep UPS units.
Installation Notes
Mount Type supports both wall and rack surface mounting. The 10-32 rail thread requires standard 10-32 cage nuts or pre-tapped rail strips — confirm your equipment uses 10-32 fasteners, not M6, before ordering.
