Overview

The Middle Atlantic PHBL-4 is a 4U (4-space) flat aluminum blank panel designed to fill unused rack unit space in 19-inch equipment enclosures. At 19" wide by 7" tall, the PHBL-4 closes off open rack slots that would otherwise compromise airflow management — uncontrolled bypass air bypasses hot components and undermines cooling efficiency in any densely loaded rack. The flat black aluminum construction keeps the panel rigid under incidental contact without adding meaningful weight to the rack load. This is the right pick when you're staging a rack with future expansion slots or need to maintain a clean, professional install on a partially populated frame in a security head-end, server closet, or AV equipment bay.

Compatibility

Fits any standard 19-inch rack enclosure following the EIA-310 rail spacing standard — the same mounting format used across Middle Atlantic rack systems, as well as enclosures from APC, Tripp Lite, Belden, Chatsworth, and virtually every other EIA-compliant open-frame or enclosed rack cabinet. The 4U height fills four consecutive rack units; if your open space spans fewer or more units, Middle Atlantic's blank panel line includes other sizes to match. Pairs directly with PoE network switches, NVRs, and other rack-mounted security equipment where unused slots need to be covered.

Installation Notes

Mounts to standard 19-inch rack rails using the panel's pre-drilled ear holes — no special tooling beyond a screwdriver. Verify your rack uses standard EIA hole spacing (square-hole, round-hole, or threaded) and select the appropriate rack screws or cage nuts accordingly; these are not included with the panel. Position the panel flush against adjacent equipment to eliminate bypass air gaps before commissioning any forced-air cooling in the enclosure.
