Description

ATEN VE800AR HDMI Receiver over Cat5e/6

Overview

The ATEN VE800AR is the receiver unit for the VE800A HDMI-over-Cat5e/6 extender system, designed for installations where an HDMI source must drive a display beyond the 3m direct-cable limit. The VE800AR accepts the extended Cat5e/6 signal from the transmitter and outputs it via a single 1 x HDMI Type A Female connector, delivering up to 1080p at 40 meters or 1080i at 60 meters — useful for boardrooms, digital signage runs, or AV-over-structured-cabling retrofits where running new HDMI cable is not practical. The VE800AR requires a separate DC power source via its DC Jack input; it does not draw power from the HDMI or Cat link.

Compatibility

The VE800AR is the receiver half of the ATEN VE800A extender kit and is designed to operate exclusively with the matching ATEN VE800A transmitter unit. Direct HDMI patch cable connection between the VE800AR and a source is limited to 3m using the 2L-7D03H cable — beyond that, Cat5e/6 infrastructure handles the run. The HDMI Type A female output connects to any HDMI-capable display or projector. This unit does not support 4K; maximum output is 1080p at 40m or 1080i at 60m, so verify your display resolution requirements before deploying on runs where 4K content is expected.

Installation Notes

Operating humidity is rated at 0–80% RH, non-condensing — suitable for climate-controlled AV and IT environments but not for unconditioned spaces subject to condensation. Power is supplied via a dedicated DC Jack (Black); ensure the correct DC adapter is available at the display end of the run. The VE800AR is sold individually; the ATEN AV extender product line includes paired kits if both transmitter and receiver are needed. For HDMI cabling between the receiver and display, standard HDMI Type A male-to-male cables apply. Carton lot size is 5 units — relevant for multi-room or multi-display deployments sourced as a single order. Review the ATEN AV catalog for compatible transmitters, switches, and splitters in the same signal-extension family. For larger infrastructure projects, pairing with a managed network switch on the Cat5e/6 backbone may be relevant where signal routing or VLAN segmentation is in scope.
